Planting Instructions for
NoMow Grass

21st Century Care Free Lawn Technology

NoMow Grass- Northern Hardy! Mow-Less, Water-Less!

Instructions for planting:
NOTE: BEST PLANTING TIME FOR GRASS IS DURING
COOL EVENINGS IN EARLY SPRING.

New Lawns - Prepare lawn as needed (till, level) and if problems are present, please consult us. Till in peat for best results and to reduced watering needs.
Mix seed with sand - 1 part seed to 10 parts sand. This is done to keep all the seed from just dropping out of the spreader since it is so fine. Remember- IT IS BETTER TO GO AN AREA TWICE THAN NOT HAVE ENOUGH TO COVER THE ENTIRE AREA ONCE!
Water the freshly seeded lawn if you do not get enough rain. Once the seed sprouts continue watering lightly but deeply (watering twice a day for 15 minutes is better than watering an hour a day). Once established there will be little need for watering since the thick root system holds moisture in. Once the grass becomes established, reduce watering to once per week then two weeks, and thereafter NoMow only needs watering once per 2 -3 weeks during extended dry spells. Your lawn will begin to fill out in about 2 - 3 weeks in warm climates, 4 -6 if ground temps are below 50 degrees. Follow the instructions enclosed with the NoMow Grass plugs for best care free growing results.

For hillsides - cover seed with burlap to prevent washing away. The burlap will deteriorate.

Instuctions for Existing Lawns- NoMowGrass will take over existing lawns when no bluegrass is present. Identify any problems prior to seeding over old lawns. Reseed old lawns by mowing the existing lawn very short, since it will not be mowed for several weeks. Spread the seed and sand mixture and water well. DO NOT MOW YOUR LAWN FOR 3 WEEKS (allowing the seed to sprout and establish roots). Then, when you do mow, mulch your grass and set your mower at the highest setting. It will take a while for NoMow grass to completely take over your lawn even when further growing instructions are followed depending on the other type of grass present.

Keys to success:
Do not walk on lawns when wet. It compacts the soil and damages the root system.
Weed and Feed 48 hours prior to rain.
NoMowGrass takes over lawns quickly if weed grasses are not present. Remove all crabgrass prior to planting.
